Activities in Nelson Lakes National Park We are both passionate about Nelson Lakes National Park and proud of what it has to offer people of all abilities and ages, be it bird watching, fishing, short walks, water sports, climbing, skiing or multiday trips through the Park, or just to be woken each morning by birdsong, we have it all. Nelson Lakes National Park is unique in New Zealand, no other National Park has so much to offer all within a walking distance, apart from the Rainbow Ski field which is a short 40 minutes drive. Nelson Lakes National Park is a great place to visit year round. Other activities include: boating, fishing, mountain biking, mountaineering, ice skating and there are special events.
