Mokoia Downs B&B offers luxury and comfort in a beautiful country lodge exuding charm and character. Enjoy the original landscape paintings, admire the hand-carved Balinese figures, or relax with a drink and browse the extensive library. Outside there are 5 acres of beautiful grounds to stroll, where you will encounter native birds, ducks and sheep, as well as rare artifacts such as an original Europa petrol pump, a 1920’s windmill from Illinois, USA, and 19th century farm equipment.
Ideal for a romantic break, Mokoia Downs also has a range of facilities that make it the perfect place to stay for families with children of all ages. Guests can relax on sun-loungers or in the shade, cool down in our swimming pool, cook a BBQ, or watch a movie in our home cinema.
From the moment that you arrive and are welcomed by Mick and Teresa with a refreshing drink and freshly baked treats, the intention is to spoil you and do everything possible to make your stay a memorable one.
Mokoia Downs has one 1 bedroom suite and one 2 bedroom suite. Both suites are located in their own private wing of the lodge, and lead out on to decks with table and chairs. All our beds have firm mattresses, and have been chosen with the utmost care to ensure maximum comfort and a good night’s sleep.
A year travelling around the world in 2004 and 2005 and staying in hundreds of different places has hugely influenced how we have set up our B&B from scratch, and our attention to detail is second to none. Whilst we aim for the highest possible standard of service, our approach is relaxed, friendly and informal. We want nothing more than for our guests to feel totally at home during their stay at Mokoia Downs, and to leave with great memories and a desire to return one day.

If Taranaki Suite is already booked the Tarawera Suite can be booked even if only 1 room is required. In this situation single person rate is $150, couple rate is $195, and additional child rate is a further $50. If only one room of Tarawera Suite is booked the second room will be closed.
