Our greatest advantage is our idyllic bush location. Although only ten minutes walk from the village, we are over the hill in the quiet suburb of Golden Bay, on beautiful Paterson Inlet. We are three minutes walk from Golden Bay Wharf, base for the water taxis which serve Ulva Island and other scenic areas. Two kayak hirers are located close by.
We offer three rooms. One Queen, one King/Twin and one single. All have ensuites. There is a large guest lounge with spectacular bush and sea views.Tariff is NZ$115 single, NZ$115 per person double or twin, including cooked or continental breakfast.We have a large and colourful garden, richly endowed with native birds. Soon after you arrive, you may find several Kakas (native parrots) lined up on the balcony rail to greet you - and possibly hoping for a biscuit !
Tea and coffee making facilities are provided in the rooms and there are a refrigerator and microwave in the garage for the convenience of guests. If you go on a fishing cruise, with catch guaranteed, we shall be happy to cook your fish for you or give you the means to cook it yourself.
On Stewart Island, you can have a sandy beach to yourself, even in the holiday season, and the nearest, at Golden Bay, is just down the hill.
You will certainly want to visit Ulva Island -all our guests do - and you can go on your own or with a local guide. Give yourself at least three hours to explore Ulva.

Local Activities:

Bush walks, Sandy beaches, Kayak hire, all within easy walking distance. Several boat operators take you for scenic or fishing trips, with catch guaranteed and filleted on the way home. We can cook it for you or freeze it if you want to take it away. There is a golf course - claimed to be the most southerly in the world. Only six holes but you can go round it three times !
