Chapel Hill B&B is a country homestay 15 minutes south of Greymouth in the beautiful Marsden Valley, on the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island. Bordered by rainforest, forest parks, and gold-bearing rivers, Chapel Hill B & B has 25 acres of forest, fields and gardens to enjoy.
Marsden Valley was settled like the rest of the West Coast. First came the Maori looking for ponamu or greenstone (jade). Then gold was discovered in the 1860’s bringing many nationalities including Chinese and Europeans.
The first chapel for early Marsden village was on this property and the house was built to reflect that with huge chapel doors, stained glass windows and beams. Built to catch the sun and amazing views, the native forest is so close you can reach out the windows and touch it.
Chapel Hill has three guest bedrooms, electric blankets, clock radios and hair dryers are provided along with guest fridge, laundry and freshly made tea and plunger coffee any time. There is a computer room with internet and free email, three guest sitting rooms and a digital TV room with a television set up for viewing digital camera shots.
