Barely an hour north of Auckland, but a world away in character and pace, Wisdome Cottage, set amidst the dairying heartland of Tomarata, offers a wonderfully refreshing away-from-it-all sanctuary.

Faithfully replicating a 17th century Devon farmhouse the character filled cottage oozes cosy rustic ambience. Features include beamed ceilings, timber floors, open fires and handcrafted joinery. Nestled in country gardens, which hug the contour of the land, the cottage overlooks the Waiteitei stream as it ambles between Totara clad banks.

From the cottage’s doorstep stroll beside the stream and meet the stock; “Twig” the collie will introduce you! Take a walk or cycle in the neighbouring quiet lanes or explore the nearby hundred acres of native bush. A few minutes’ drive through country roads brings you to sensational swimming and surfing beaches. Be sure to admire the freshwater Tomarata lakes enroute.

Accommodation is offered in two generous double country bedrooms, one ensuite the other with private bathroom .Tariff $130 per couple includes a “Farmers Breakfast” which can be served on your own balcony overlooking the river if you desire.
Sumptuous evening meals featuring home produced or local fare are readily available on request.

Wisdome Cottage is home to our family of four; Peter and Sally, your hosts, are widely travelled and look forward to providing you with an insight to New Zealand country life, and Tom and Kate, still at school, relish the rural environment. We share our home with one working dog and one idle cat!
